There's something about the fall weather that makes me reach instantly for my vintage Brooks Brothers Herringbone Tweed jacket. Maybe it's the falling leaves on the ground that makes me want to be on a Yale campus reading Hemmingway near the library with a cup of espresso or riding my bike to an old book shop in Paris. Either way tweed is instant classic.
Miles Davis was a big fan of the Ivy League Tweed look. The trick is to "cool it up" without making it look square. Pair it with a white button down and some beatup jeans and suede loafers one weekend or even with a white v-neck t-shirt. Just don't be surprised if the cute girl at the coffee shop stops to ask your opinion on Philosophy and starts calling you Professor.
