Car Style: 1954 Austin Healy
My pops just bought a 1954 Austin Healy...I'm pretty jealous, I've always dug these little British roadsters. The original color was British Green but I'm feeling the blue color..I'm hoping to find time to help him with the restoration so I can feel confident enough to take on a project of my own..

Music Spotlight: Mystery Jets
Been listening to these guys all this week. Here's the single 'Dreaming of Another World' released on 5th July, taken from the album 'Serotonin'. Pretty cool video as well.

Warhol Screen Test: Lou Reed
The above clip is from a series of Andy Warhol's famous screen tests (1964-1966) that were originally conceived as film-portraits, basically portraits done on film rather than canvas. Warhol covered the "who's who" of eccentric artists...from poet Allen Ginsberg to artist Salvador Dali. The clip is set to Reed's "I'm Not A Young Man Anymore". You just can't beat the cool swagger that Lou encompasses...all rebellious, all rock n' roll..

Miami Style
Myself and my boy Mike sippin mojitos off of A1A..
On the way to the beach..
The Whispers- Rock Steady, 1987
Just got back from visiting Miami for the first time..and I must say, I'm still adjusting. There is something so iconic about this city, it amazed me. The neon lights, beach, women and cars brought me back to my childhood when I would watch Miami Vice. To me Miami will always be frozen in the 80's.
I snapped a few pics while I was there but didn't have much time for pics with all the beach and bar hoping. The Whispers track I threw on here came on a throwback station as we were driving into the beach. The song fits the vibe perfectly. You really can't listen to anything else in Miami other than 80's rock and r&b; it just wouldn't be right..

I've been doing some car hunting and I'm zeroing in on the BMW 135i. The 135i packs a 3.0-liter, 6-cylinder engine with TwinPower Turbo technology, 300 horsepower and rear-wheel drive..not to mention head-turning looks and endless custom interior options all under $40K. I'm sold..

Hey 19
I've always been into Steely Dan but whenever fall starts getting closer I can't help but start listening to them to get me pumped. Hey Nineteen, is my favorite Steely Dan song and always reminds me of a time I visited Manhattan when I was about 27. I just got over a breakup and was on the dating scene again. I was at the age where there's a major disconnect from girls who were in their early 20's or still in college.
This song came on an old FM radio as I was getting ready for a night on the town and it just did something for me. I had heard it as a kid and didn't really pay attention to the lyrics until this moment. As I put on my jacket to leave the bridge hits:
The Cuervo Gold
The fine Colombian
Make tonight a wonderful thing
We can't dance together
No we can't talk at all
I'm not advocating hard liquor or cocaine but the songs lyrics are perfection. The songs about this guy i.e. (Donald Fagen and Walter Becker) a player as a younger guy in college and then moving to another city and being older (Fagen and Beker were about 29 and 32) trying to date younger women. He has nothing in common with them i.e. music ('Retha Franklin), dancing and so all he can do is drink, do drugs and make love. Classic.

Paint it Black
One color of jeans I haven't worn in a while is black...I think mostly because the fit has always been off. I've really been wanting to pickup a pair of black jeans that are "fitted" but not too "skinny". I'm really diggin' the jeans from Paige...Colin Farrell is rockin' a cool fit as well.

Gloomy Sunday
The genius of Serge Gainsbourg still baffles me...this song is fitting for today. Not so much a gloomy Sunday but the type of Sunday where you don't want to move or do anything...Maybe it's the skin melting 100 degree weather outside...who knows?
"It was July, the middle of summer, when the suns playful sunlight turns into a scornful burn and sweat pours down your brow like trickling water from a broken faucet." -David Maez
